We had some new friends over for dinner last night. We’d met them just once before, at a church cookout this summer. They had moved to town only a couple weeks earlier and were also expecting their first baby.

Having Maggie (yep another Maggie!), Tommy, and little Liam (who is two days older than Mary) over was nice. It’s great to have a reason to pull out the fun chili pepper plates, use cloth napkins, and grill fajitas.

When Mark and I lived next door to my oldest sister’s family, we had Mexican Monday most every week, alternating who hosted. I think having regular entertaining is not only fun (good food and good company), but it helps keep the house looking tidy! 🙂 I think we’re going to try to resurrect the occasional Mexican Monday even though we live across town now, and I also want to make an effort to invite my oldest brother’s family over more often. You really notice how much you didn’t hang out when you no longer have the opportunity. I definitely miss my siblings and their families who live out-of-state and out-of-town. Good thing we’re all getting together next week!!

  1. Having Parents as Teachers each month helps the tidiness too. 🙂
